A couple of weeks ago I wrote about the candidates for the best watches in GPHG 2025. On 13 November 2025, GPHG 2025 Winners were announced. Below we have the winners for each category, and I am curious to see if I got at least one right.

As I said in the previous article about GPHG 2025 nominees, we have 15 categories, the votes are ended and winners are known.

Aiguille D’or Grand Prix

Well, I really wanted to see Urban Jurgensen Uj-2 take the prize home. It didn’t happen, and the big prize went to Breguet Claissique Souscription 2025.   A very nice watch, but I still think that my proposal was better.

Ladies

Another miss from me, I really liked the Louis Vuitton Tambour Convergence platinum, but the jury didn’t agree with me and the prize went to Gerald Genta Gentissima Oursin FIre Opal.

Ladies Complications

Miss again. I liked Audemars Piguet Code 11.59 Flying Tourbillon , I didn’t really like one from the list and I picked one that lost.  The winner is Chopard, Imperiale Four Seasons

Time Only

My first correct guess. The one that really caught my eyes was Daniel Roth Extra Plat Rose Gold, and it won. Honestly the most beautiful one from the competition in this category. I hope some day I will own one

Men’s

Two guesses in a row. My favourite one was Urban Jurgensen UJ-2 Double Wheel Natural Escapement, actually the one that I was hoping to win the big prize. At least this model won the Men’s category Watch.  It’s a really nice watch.

Men’s Complication Watch

Chopard L.U.C Lunar One was my favourite watch from this category, but it didn’t win. The prize goes to Bovet 1822. I like the brand Bovet, but this model is ugly. And yes, I look at the beauty too, not just complications.

Iconic Watch

The one that caught my attention was Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar , and he actually won the prize.

Tourbillon

As I mentioned in the previous article, I don’t really like one from this category, and I went for the Arnold & Son Constant Force Tourbillon T1, and the watch that won was the Bvlgari Octo Finissimo Ultra Tourbillon

Mechanical Exception

This was a category that made things hard for me, I really like them all, but in the end I went with Greubel Forsey Nano Foudroyante which also won the prize.

Chronograph

I was rambling about how ugly Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Concept Split Seconds Chronograph GMT Large Date  is, with a long name and an ugly design. Anyway, it didn’t win, neither did my choice which was Louis Monet 1816. Instead the prize went to Angelus Chronographe Telemetre Yellow Gold.  That would have been my second choice.

Sports

The winner is Chopard Alpine Eagle 41 SL Cadence 8HF which is not bad, but common, Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda PF Sport Chronograph Ultra Cernet is a piece of art.

Jewelry

I didn’t choose this one, my wife did. And she liked the model from Simon Brette, Chronometre Artisans Joaillerie , and I agree it is the most beautiful one.

She was wrong though, the winner is Dior Montres La D de Dior Buisson Couture

Artistic Crafts

I had two favourites. Chopard Quatro Spirit 25 Straw Marquetry Edition and  Louis Vuitton Tambour Bushido Automata , neither of them won. Instead the prize went to Voutilainen 28GML SOUYOU.

Petite Aiguille

I loved the designs for  H Moser & CIE or Otsuka Lotec, but I ended up choosing Nomos Glashute Club Sport neomatik Worldtimer which I still consider to be the right choice for this category.

The winner is M.A.D Editions M.A.D 2 Green. Yeah… Still don’t like it

Challenge

Nice watches in this category, two of them I mentioned are Kurono Tokyo Jubilee Senso EOL Shiraai and BEDA’A Eclipse

My final choice was DENNISON Natural Stone Eye in Gold , which won.  Simple and perfect.

Mechanical Clock

My choice was TRILOBE Le Temps Retrouvé. Which I still consider to be the best choice for the category. But that’s why I’m not on the jury. The winner is

L’EPÉE 1839 Albatross L’Epée 1839 X MB&F.

Also they gave prizes or mentions to three more watches (one clock) Audacity Prize which was won by Fam Al Hut Morbius, Horological Revelation which went to Anton Suhanov St. Petersburg Easter Egg Tourbillon Clock

And Chronometry which went to Zenith G.F.J Calibre 135

So these are the winners of GPHG 2025. What do you think? Each and one of them is worth the prizes?

My passion for watches began around the age of 6 when I first saw a watch that seemed magical to me. It had 7 melodies, an alarm, a stopwatch, and would beep every hour. Truly advanced technology for me at the time! It belonged to my brother, but before long, he gave it to me. One of the melodies was “Oh! Susanna” by Stephen Foster, but unfortunately, I no longer remember the other six. If I had to guess, I’d say it was a Casio, as they popularized melody watches. However, the truth is I don’t remember exactly. It certainly wasn’t a Casio—most likely a cheap Chinese knockoff—but it was fascinating for a kid like me. That watch is no longer part of my life—just like many other watches that have been lost over time, without me even realizing when or how. As I write these lines, a photo from my first grade comes to mind. In it, I’m wearing a watch that’s clearly visible. Still, I don’t think it’s the melody watch I remember. On the watch in the photo, I had stuck two flags cut out from an atlas. Besides my passion for watches, I also had a fascination with maps. What can I say? Childhood quirks and passions of a kid who grew up without the internet—because it didn’t exist! Otherwise, I’ve always been told I have a talent for writing, probably because I’m not good at math at all.
